Helpful check list when buying a pressure washer

Check what pump unit is fitted to the pressure washer

There are lots of different models available to buy in the marketplace and many have cheap unknown pump units fitted. It’s important that you know what pump is fitted as this can be one of the most expensive parts of the machine to replace if things go wrong. The general rule is if the supplier doesn’t know the make or model of pump, can you be confident the pressure washer is a quality product?

Taskman pressure washers are fitted with world-renowned quality pumps from ‘Interpump’ these include brass head pumps complete with ceramic pistons have a reputation for durability.

Check the engine is a Honda or Yanmar and that parts are easily available

If you’re looking to buy a pressure washer with a Honda engine fitted it’s always best to check that it is fitted with a genuine Honda product. Copies of engines are generally unreliable and may not conform to emission regulations and basic parts are virtually impossible to obtain. This can be costly if you are a business reliant on your pressure washer working.

Taskman pressure washers are fitted with either a Honda petrol or Yanmar diesel engine and all spare parts are readily available for the engine and pressure washer. Taskman are part of Seddons (Plant & Engineers) who are official dealers for Honda and Yanmar engines.

Check what after-sales support you will receive?

Service and replacement parts are things that can happen unexpectedly when operating petrol and diesel pressure washers. Having access to technical help and fast delivery of parts are essential to minimising downtime.

Taskman stock all replacement parts, offer quick delivery and are on hand to offer technical help and advice when needed, all standard as part of our service.

Check the warranty terms of your pressure washer

Always check the warranty cover that is offered to you, the length of period and what is covered. Not all pressure washers sold in the marketplace offer the same warranty cover and will differ by supplier.

Taskman pressure washers offer a comprehensive warranty, carried out either by our dealers, or our own in-house engineers to ensure a fast and professional service.

Road towing a pressure washer (information taken from VOSA 19/11/13)

    Towing with a car

The equipment you use with your trailer or caravan must meet certain safety standards.

    Towing Bar

If you get a tow bar for your car, it needs to be ‘type approved’. This means it meets EU regulations and is designed for your car. A type approved tow bar will have a label with an approval number and details of the vehicle it’s approved for.

    Towing Mirrors

You must have an adequate view of the road behind you. If your trailer is wider than the rear of the towing vehicle, you may need to fit suitable towing mirrors.

    Trailer Brakes

Any trailer weighing over 750 kilograms must have a working brake system. Some smaller trailers also have brakes, although these are optional. Any brakes on a trailer must be in good working order.

Car Towing Weight and Width Limits

Most cars have a maximum weight they can tow. It’s usually listed in the handbook or specification sheet. Alternatively the vehicles ‘Gross Train Weight’ may be listed on the vehicle identification number (VIN) plate on the car. This is normally under the bonnet or inside the driver’s door. The gross train weight is the weight of the fully loaded car plus fully loaded trailer and must not be exceeded.

    Width and Length

The maximum trailer width for any towing vehicle is 2.55 metres. The maximum length is 7 metres for a trailer towed by a vehicle weighing up to 3.5 tonnes (3,500 kilograms)
